Serving Others | The Dover Church
The mission work of the Dover Church is born from a desire to grow in faith and to continue the work of Jesus Christ in our time and in this place. Core to The Dover Church covenant is our mission to put our faith into action beyond our congregation - whether within our town, the local community, or across the world. And while there are many things we could do, all efforts we put forth start with members of our congregation – those who have come forward with a great idea plus the passion, commitment and resources necessary to build a sustained and successful initiative.
Come join us helping our neighbors!
Next summer, June 23 - 29, 2019, The Dover Church Youth Group will again take it’s ministry of service to Western Maine. Building upon our 2018 Mission to the Eastward service trip to Farmington, ME, and our past experience with Appalachian Service Project in West Virginia, we will bring our home repair skills back to MATE…”reaching the last house on the last road” (www.missionattheeastward.org).
The Dover Church is actively involved, as a founding member, in Family Promise Metrowest, a cooperative, interfaith partnership offering hope to homeless families with children through safe transitional shelter, meals, and supportive case management as they seek permanent housing. This nonprofit program was founded in 2008.
On Sunday, October 14th we put together 300 "Mama Kits" to welcome new babies and mothers at the St. Boniface Hospital in Fond-des-Blancs, Haiti.
If you would like to help with either a monetary donation please use the link below. Many thanks for your generousity.
We are committed to providing financial, educational, medical and professional support to Haiti, emphasizing the following:
KIVA is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, KIVA lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world.
We have formed a micro-financing team, making loans to people in the developing world in $25 amounts. KIVA has a repayment rate of over 99% so the money you are lending will be reimbursed. You may then choose to invest again to help others create opportunities for themselves.
The Dover Church is so much more than Sunday mornings for adults. It’s about growing friendships and connecting with neighbors, whether in yoga or a breakfast group. The only thing missing from these connections may be….You.
At the center of worship in our Christian tradition is the sermon, a time to reflect on where God’s Word intersects, informs, enriches and directs our lives. In the sermon our in-house theologian, our pastor, seeks to help people see themselves and their lives in the light of God’s love and command to love others.
